Classes
The KWSDS itself does not offer weekly dance classes, but there are several places to go if you want to learn swing dancing.
Hep Cat Hoppers
The
Hep Cat Hoppers run some weekly class sessions through the City of Waterloo and teach in various other formats. For more info, check out
www.hepcathoppers.ca.
Classes at the University of Waterloo
The
UW Swing Club runs weekly lessons for UW students, and runs events such as start-of-term and end-of-term dances.
Waterloo Swing Crew
The Waterloo Swing Crew performance group has existed since 2006 and periodically offers weekly lessons. Currently lessons aren't available, but you can get up to date information at the
Waterloo Swing Crew website. They teach various levels and styles, including classes for beginners.
More class opportunities in KW
- Drop-in beginner lessons are offered before most local events.
- West Coast Swing lessons are available with Sean Browne; email Sean for more information.
- Addicted to Dancing offers private lessons and also can teach classes by request.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are a great way to advance your dancing really quickly. They are often used to catch up on class material, to prepare for big events (like a wedding), to work on specific technique or moves, or to take some big steps forward after being at the same level for a while. Privates can be arranged for a single student, a dance couple, or for several couples who would like to work together on the same things.
For more information about private lessons, contact the groups above!
