Classes
The KWSDS itself does not offer weekly dance classes, but there are several places to go if you want to learn swing dancing.
Learn at our dances
- Free lessons are offered at most KWSDS events (see "Events").
- Free drop-in beginner lessons are offered every Monday before Swing at Caesar's (see "Dances").
Classes with Next Step Studios
Next Step Studios offers dance classes for the beginner and experienced dancer. New classes begin regularily; visit the
NSS website for more information or to register.
Classes at the University of Waterloo
The
UW Swing Club runs weekly lessons for UW students, and runs events such as start-of-term and end-of-term dances.
More class opportunities in KW
- West Coast Swing lessons are available with Sean Browne; email Sean for more information.
- The Hep Cat Hoppers sometimes teach lesson series through the Region of Waterloo.
- Addicted to Dancing offers private lessons and also can teach classes by request.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are a great way to advance your dancing really quickly. They are often used to catch up on class material, to prepare for big events (like a wedding), to work on specific technique or moves, or to take some big steps forward after being at the same level for a while. Privates can be arranged for a single student, a dance couple, or for several couples who would like to work together on the same things.
If you are interested in getting information about private lessons, please fill out the form below and we will answer your questions and/or match you up with a local instructor. (Just fill out whichever fields are appropriate.)
